Carl "Slim" Hugh Carney, 87, of Pahoa, Hawaii He died on Monday, July 6, 2009 at Hilo Medical Center He was born on September 30, 1921, in Campbell, California
He was a Pilot in the Army Air Corps during the World War II flying transport in the European theatre. He later retired as a Rocket Test Technician for the Aerojet working on the development and testing of the Mercury, Apollo and Saturn rockets for the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA). He also held a degree in CiviCulture/ Forestry and was a member of the Pahoa Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
